Seoul-based musicians Jean Oh and Aram Lee’s CultureHub Global Residency was a testimony to the practice of improvisation as a means of creative expansion and cross-cultural encounter. The artists participated in public performances with LA-based musicians and dancers at Pieter Performance Space in Los Angeles, The Firehouse in Joshua Tree, The Dorothy Disney Lund Theater at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, and had a recording session at Coyote Run Studio in Joshua Tree.

Based out of the CultureHub LA studio, Jean and Aram explored their musical relationship (forged over years as members of world renowned experimental jazz quartet Black String) and fostered new relationships through improvisational jam sessions with new collaborators. Participating LA-based musicians include: Lo-Fang, Vinny Golia, Slowski, Senon Williams, Jonathan Stearns, and Cliff Sequence; dancers Sam Wentz, Kensaku Shinohara, Levi Gonzales, Stacy Dawson Stearns, devika v. wickremesinghe, Jessica Hemingway, kirsten michelle schnittker, and Alex Wand; sound engineer/musician Ian Stahl; curator/arts organizer Jmy James Kidd; musician/legend Rex Dakota; and Seoul-based musician and vocalist Minyoung Kim.
