Dismantling, a workshop led by Blair Simmons and Cyd Cipolla, considers the acts of dismantling and co-creating as political, social, and/or meditative acts. Participants will dismantle objects down to their component parts and then be challenged to use the pieces around them in generative acts of world-building.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own objects to be dismantled, but they are all subject to a safety check (nothing with screens, high voltage, risk of chemical leak, etc.). We will provide tools for dismantling and repurposing (screwdrivers, scissors, glue, etc.) as well as a collection of objects.
Dismantling is presented as a part of Re–Fest, CultureHub’s annual festival that brings artists, activists, and technologists together to explore our role in re-shaping the future. The full artist line-up and programming schedule will be announced soon.
