Into the Future is an online 3D immersive performance installation, devised by an interdisciplinary group of students from the Seoul Institute of the Arts, during a special CultureHub Telematic Production class. Lead by Professor Paciotto Andrea and Yi DanBi, the purpose is to provide the students with the opportunity to develop artistic and technical skills necessary to work, collaborate and perform for an international audience, using some of the most recent telematic tools.

The starting point for developing the content came from the juxtaposition of the two words FUTURE and NOW and the realization that our actions in the present time determine what our future will be. Reflections on this issue spur from the observation of current global events, from the conditions of separation and isolation that people have been experiencing, and from the understanding that human actions against the natural environment can lead to serious threats, able to suddenly overturn the normal and familiar into a dystopian reality. Through discussions, researches and interviews the students created their own original scenarios about love, violence, resilience, healing, regeneration, health, and harmony.

Into the Future was created and designed for the 3D interactive browser-based platform ARIUM, developed by Aidan Nelson and Dan Oved. When accessing the 3D space the audience will find themselves immersed in the collectively created artwork and are invited to explore the installations and performances freely, interacting with the environment, with each other and with the live performers.
