Local Report Seoul – New York: Kids Exchange
Presented by CultureHub in association with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul and Pace Gallery in New York.
Students from New York and Seoul joined together to observe what life may be for someone their age across the globe. Local Report, a project started by Robert Whitman in the 1970s, asked young participants to share 20 second videos and audio recordings capturing moments of their daily lives and environments. The videos were stitched together to create two loops that were displayed during a 45 minute live exchange where the participating students from New York and Seoul gathered to interact and ask each other questions.
The interaction was translated by CultureHub LA Director, Iris Yujin Jeong, and recorded for the E.A.T. (Experiments in Art and Technology): Open-Ended exhibition at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul where it was on view May 26, 2018 – September 16, 2018.
CultureHub hosted two screenings of Seoul – New York: Kids Exchange (Local Report) in association with Pace Gallery’s exhibition Robert Whitman: 61 at the CultureHub studio.
