The American Truth and Reconciliation Commission

March 23, 2024

Online

The American Truth and Reconciliation Commission by James Scruggs is a radically interactive online experience exploring America’s history with the enslavement of Africans and the resulting contemporary issues of racism. Audience members are immediately thrust into the role of the jury in this exploration and trial of The American Experiment itself. The ‘judge’ is an AI entity that the audience will create in real time to embody the attributes that THIS audience decides is appropriate to lead them forward.

The American Truth and Reconciliation Commission will be presented online via HERE’s digital platform, URHERE. It is commissioned by the Perelman Arts Center (PAC), supported by Rockefeller Multi Arts Grant (MAPFUND), and presented by HERE in association with CultureHub.

The American Truth and Reconciliation Commission is developed in Experiments in Digital Storytelling.

To purchase tickets, you will need a URHERE account. If you don’t already have one, please sign-up and check your email for account confirmation (check spam if you don’t see it in your inbox). Once confirmed, you will have to return to the show page at urhere.art/premieres/tatarp to continue your purchase.
