At this table… is a sexy, jazzy, zany, improvisational, puzzling, experimental interactive theatre of life. Featuring an open-hybrid public forum – an adapted “Long Table” conversation, in Lois Weaver’s tradition.
The event will feature a “three-course meal” made up of performances, conversation, and web-based interactions. Appetizers and desserts will include performances from the Breaking the Walls ensemble, case managers and social workers at Wellness Together who have been exploring community, wellness, longing, and pleasure. The main course of our “meal” will be a conversation inspired by the Long Table format.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to come to the table, ask questions, make statements, leave comments, draw, or simply sit, watch, and listen. Come to the hybrid table for this experiment in connection and co-presence. Bubble wands, thought bubbles, potato-making supplies, and potato-themed snacks may be provided.
At this table… is the culminating performance of the Wellness Together Arts Fellowship, a partnership between Wellness Together and The Performance Project at University Settlement, CultureHub, and La MaMa. The fellowship is designed to leverage creative and interactive possibilities of online performance to create an expanded sense of community for homebound older adults and ensure the technological advances are accessible and inclusive to those who could benefit the most from it. The 2026 Wellness Together Arts Fellows Rita Liu and C Meranda Flachs-Surmanek collaborated with older adults and case managers/social workers in a series of workshops that centered community building and the generation of artistic material.
