Born in Venezuela and based in Porto, Portugal with a background in theatre, Daniel has been exploring, among others, the concept of Telematic Art, using video as a tool and the internet as a platform, merging both languages into a single object of expression. In this field he aims at reflecting on the impact of technology on everyday life and the environment of the Internet as a reflection of a world where the abstract nature of this transmedia movement changes the notions of space, presence, privacy and identity.
“As part of CultureHub’s Residency Program my contribution as a writer will be part of an ongoing interest in practicing the producing of written material which can be an extension of the artistic practice itself. Within this context the writing will be the main medium of expression in relation to the organization’s cultural program. Continuing my personal interest of investigating the use of technology on the performing arts (its implications, affections, transformations) this residency will be an exercise of reacting, thinking and inquiring about specific practices undertaken during the period of the residency and how those practices can reflect on a present which is transformation, and what that present brings from the past and to what future might lead us to.”
