Collective Verse

October 7–11, 2025
Presented by CultureHub LA

Informed by the Japanese poetic tradition of Renga, the Dadaist Exquisite Corpse, and Mesoamerican culture, Collective Verse invites on-site and remote participants to co-create poetic verse through anonymous writing prompts and practices via a custom algorithmic web application. Enacted alongside an algorithmic soundscape, Collective Verse is both a container for communal processing and an outlet for those who are at a loss for words.

Estevan Carlos Benson is an interdisciplinary artist, poet, sound designer, and composer based in Los Angeles, California. His work addresses technology, culture, and creative exploration through custom built tools. His research in ritual and the anthropology of music informs his practice around social engagement and activities.

Collective Verse was developed in the CultureHub Residency Program
