Live in studio/telematic ARTALK with Ruth Maleczech. Ruth will be discussing her life and work with students at the Seoul Institute of the Arts. A founding Co-Artistic Director of Mabou Mines, Ruth Maleczech has, since 1970, collaborated on almost every company work. She recently starred as Lucia Joyce in Sharon Fogarty’s Lucia’s Chapters. In recent years, she has performed in Lee Breuer’s La Divina Caricatura, Summa Dramatica & Ecco Porco. In 2007 she directed Song for New York, a site-specific music/theater piece, performed from a barge moored in the East River. Earlier directing work includes the OBIE award-winning Belén – A Book of Hours, which premiered in Mexico City and toured the United States. She has received OBIE Awards for Vanishing Pictures, which she directed, for performance in Hajj by Lee Breuer, Through the Leaves by Franz Xavier Kroetz, andMabou Mines Lear, a gender reversed production of Shakespeare’s play. She won Villager Awards for her direction of Wrong Guys as well as for her performance in Hajj.
