CultureHub Tech Internship


CultureHub is a center for art and technology that connects communities around the world. To date, CultureHub has linked audiences with over 500 artists from 30 countries through live performances, exhibitions, web-based presentations, livestreams, and education programs. Founded in a partnership with La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club in New York City and the Seoul Institute of the Arts in Korea, CultureHub presents a regular season of public programming, including Refest, our annual festival; holds artists residencies; engages in research and development of creative technology; and creates educational programming to engage the next generation of artists and creators.


CultureHub seeks an intern for technical involvement in our productions, events, and maintenance. Applicants should have a video and media production background and be looking for more experience in live production.


Applicants should have familiarity with ENG and/or DSLR operation, venue and/or studio operation, and audio engineering. Digital media knowledge is also a plus. With this internship, applicants can expect to gain skills in venue operation, webcast, live production, and multimedia routing. Training will take place at the start of each work session, to prepare for that day’s task.


Duties vary, but one can expect to routinely handle audio and video routing, recording, and internet broadcast. Lights and fabrics will be used regularly. Occasionally there will be a need to facilitate interactive and design elements. Other duties will include studio maintenance, media archiving, and gear transport. Our studio features a large and diverse inventory of media components.


The CultureHub gear set includes Blackmagic video switchers, Yamaha audio desks, Mac software environment including QLab, Cisco teleconferencing codecs, Elation lighting, Velvet LEDs, Panasonic multimedia projectors, and Sony XDCam Cameras.


The position will receive a stipend for roughly 16 hours of work per week. The weekly schedule is flexible but should be consistent. The internship will run from August 21 to December 22.
